Plex Won't Play XVID Files Correctly- The solution

Q: "Hi. I am trying to set up Plex Media Server to Play on my 'smart' TV. One of my question is a movie encded with Xvid and Plex doesn't seem to recognize it? The issue has nothing to do with the TV, as the movie does not appear in my Plex Media Center. Any solution?"

  • Container: MP4
  • Resolution: 1920×1080 or smaller
  • Video Encoding: H.264 (level 4.0 or lower)
  • Video Framerate: 30fps
  • Video Bit Depth: 8
  • Audio Encoding: AAC

Though in some cases, videos formats that can be played by DLNA or from a USB drive on a device may not be available for direct playback by Plex. That's why Plex refuse to play video codec in Xvid.
